ACT 06: Revive

I was in the car when I saw a red Gallardo stopped next to mine at a traffic light. That Lamborghini machine had been modified for its engine system as it vroomed furiously. In it, I saw a lady. She’s very beautiful as beautiful as the girl that stole my heart in my secondary school, 10 years back. When the light turned green, the red Gallardo with nice swirl vinyl on it went forward with a loud vroom! Assuming that as a challenge, I instantly drove my black Evo to catch her. Luckily, my Mitsubishi built monster had been extremely modified as it can reach up to 350 MPH!

The outrun went for about 25 minutes. The best was the downhill drift. It took me quite hard to get pass over her until she blinked her emergency lights. She went for emergency stop by the roadside. That’s my chance so I stepped still on my pedal and went fast after her. I could smell the aroma of winning until I realized that… “Stupid! Idiot!” I shouted to myself in car. I did the Rodeo on road before I headed back to her. My instinct strongly said that the girl was her! I have to help her.

From far, I could see smoke coming out from the opened hood. She just stood by her Gallardo. Waiting for cars that pass by. “Whoa! Blow me down!” This is really her, exactly like Sophie! I went out from my car, “hey, what’s wrong with your ride?” “Oh, I am not really sure why but I saw sparks before it slowed down,” from her worried tone and soft voice she replied me, I knew that it was Sophie! I recognized her voice eventhough I haven’t hear it for a quite long time.

I checked her car a bit and made a call. “Ey man, a red Gallardo at Route 66 for ya. Broke down. ASAP. I’ll catch you up later.” I told my men to tow the car and take it to my garage. “Don’t worry. I’ll fix that for you. You just overheat it. Look, your radiator’s empty.” Accidently, I touched the very hot radiator. “Hey, are you alright?” she rushed to me and checked my hand. “Oh, I’m fine, Sophie. I just accidently touch it…” she stunned and looked at my face. “How did you know my name? Have we met before?” She asked me. Oops! My bad. “Err..I’m sorry. I don’t think we have met before. Sophie is actually my best buddy’s name. Are you Sophie too? He..he..”

I asked her to get inside my car and off we went. I drove calmly as I was very happy to meet her again after this while. “Sophie, it’s very nice to meet you today. Let’s go for a drink before I send you home. Don’t worry, my treat, ok?” She smiled at once. Thank god, she smiled again at me! At the restaurant, I’d order iced lemon tea and lemon cheese cake for both of us. “Are you a mind reader? these are my favorite! Thanks ya!” she excitedly said it to me. Sophie doesn’t chance at all. She’s still the same person that I adore long ago. We enjoyed the meal with joy.

“So, tell me something about your past,” Sophie said. My heart beat fast suddenly.“Sophie, look… I have something to tell you and I hope that you won’t get mad. Actually, I was in the same class, middle school and neighborhood with you sometimes ago. Remember Slay?” Once again, she stunned. “Are you…”
“Yes, it’s me.” She stopped eating and played with the crump with her fork. “Why did you leave me after that day? I’ve been waiting for you the whole time! Don’t you even care about my feelings? I missed you like crazy!” I saw tears downpour her cheeks. She blushed. I handed her my handkerchief and she wipe them off.

“I rushed home that day. I was so scared to face with you again and I forgot to tell you that I am moving out on the next day. Mom told me that you came but I can’t help myself that time. I was too ill to come and see you. I sat up whole night crying. After we moved, I couldn’t find your address or phone number or anything. I was so sad you know. Sophie, I’m sorry…” she still sad. From her eyes, I could feel that she’s still angry at me. I know she also has something to tell me.

She looked up and said, “That evening, I wanted to tell you everything about your letter. I wanted to tell you about us and about Hans. Actually, he was a…” I put my index finger on her lips assigning her to stop. Then I added, “A student-exchange participant. I accidently met him and he told me everything. I knew I was wrong.” She was calmer after that. “So, we cool?” she nodded and pinched my hand. With her smile, she said, “Promise me that you will never leave me again?” “Ouch! Alright… I promise.” We went out from the restaurant side by side, holding hands. “Sophie… Keep smiling. You’re so beautiful when you smile.”

THE TRUTH UNVEILED!
*Who is Hans?
Hans, the new boy in our class was the boy that I was Jealous of because I thought that Sophie will get along with him. Actually, he got no friend there as he was just a temporary student there.

*The letter I gave to Sophie is like this…

Sophie, I am sorry for acting strange after these while, actually I wanted to tell you that I like you so much and it’s ok if you don’t like me because I think you have your own choice already. I knew that I had made a lot of mistakes to you. I am the one who made our friendship became like this. I realized that I shouldn’t do that to you. From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to say sorry to you for all my wrong doings. I knew that I have too over the limit and I don’t have my guts to say sorry to you. I hoped that you’ll accept my apologize and please tell me what should I do to bring back our friendship.  Sincerely, I am begging you to forgive me and I really need you, best friend. However, I know that it would be hard for you to forgive me. So, it’s up to you then. By the way, best of luck for the coming examination.
Bye…

*…and this was just a long dream. I was very ill that evening and I blacked out for a few days. When I woke up, I was in the hospital and Sophie was by my side. She accepted my apologize and we became close again after that. ;)
